Having grown up in Kumamoto and then moved abroad, performing across many countries for over twenty years, I have come to think deeply about my role — and the future — as a musician.

In this chaotic age, there is one thing we must never let disappear: culture.
Music, food, language, tradition, festivals, art, fashion, nature, education, and more — all of it was created, protected, and handed down by human hands.
私の愛する故郷熊本は、素晴らしい自然、人と文化で溢れています。この地で、音楽を中心に人々がつながり、文化を育てていく音楽祭をつくりたいという想いから、「ループくまもとミュージックフェス」を立ち上げました。
My beloved hometown of Kumamoto overflows with wonderful nature, people, and culture. Out of a wish to create a festival where people connect through music and nurture culture together in this place, I founded Loop Kumamoto Music Festival.
音楽は目に見えず形として残りません。それでも、記憶の中の風景や匂いを呼び起こし、物語を連想させ、ひらめきを生みます。呼吸や鼓動に重なり、身体を揺らし、そして何より、心を動かすのです。そして同じ空間にいる人々を共鳴させ、一体感を生み出します。音楽が、言葉や国境を超えた共通言語と言われる理由はそこにあるのだと思います。
Music is invisible; it leaves no physical form. And yet it calls back the scenery and scents held in our memory, conjures stories, and sparks inspiration. It layers itself over our breath and heartbeat, moves our bodies, and above all, moves our hearts. It lets people sharing the same space resonate with one another and creates a sense of unity. I believe that is why music is called a common language that transcends words and borders.
音楽が人と人をつなぎ、そのつながりが文化を育て、その文化が未来を形づくっていきます。ループくまもとミュージックフェスが、皆でそれを感じ、見つめ、分かち合う場となり、その輪が世界へ広がっていくことを心から願います。
Music connects people, that connection nurtures culture, and that culture shapes the future. I hope with all my heart that Loop Kumamoto Music Festival becomes a place where we can all feel it, witness it, and share it together — and that this circle spreads out into the world.
今を生きる私たちのために、そして明るい未来のために、音楽の魔法が確かな力になってくれると信じています。
For those of us living in the present, and for a brighter future, I believe the magic of music will become a real and certain force.
